Mushbit Copyright and Abuse Policy
Version abuse-2026-10-09 · Effective 9 October 2026
1. How to report
Mushbit Inc. ("Mushbit", "we") takes reports of illegal or abusive content seriously. Because files on Mushbit Drive are private unless their owner shares them, most reports concern a shared link. Please include that link in your report.
- Copyright infringement: follow Section 2 and write to our designated agent.
- Child sexual abuse material: write to legal@mushbit.com with the link. Do not attach or download the material. See Section 6.
- Any other illegal or abusive content or activity: write to legal@mushbit.com with the link, what the problem is, and, if you can, why it is illegal.
2. Copyright notices (DMCA)
If you believe that content on Mushbit infringes your copyright, send a written notice to our designated agent that includes:
- your physical or electronic signature, as the owner of the copyright or a person authorised to act for them;
- a description of the copyrighted work you believe is infringed;
- the location of the material, such as the shared link, with enough detail for us to find it;
- your name, postal address, telephone number and email address;
- a statement that you believe in good faith that the use is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent or the law; and
- a statement that the information in the notice is accurate, and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the owner or authorised to act for the owner.
Designated agent: Designated Copyright Agent, Mushbit Inc., 2810 North Church Street, Wilmington, DE 19802, United States · legal@mushbit.com
3. What we do with a valid notice
When we receive a notice that includes the information above, we act promptly to remove or disable access to the material. We tell the account holder, and send them a copy of the notice with your personal contact details removed where the law allows.
4. Counter-notices
If your content was removed and you believe this was a mistake or that you had the right to use it, you can send a counter-notice to our designated agent that includes:
- your physical or electronic signature;
- identification of the material removed and where it appeared before removal;
- a statement, under penalty of perjury, that you believe in good faith that the material was removed as a result of a mistake or misidentification; and
- your name, address and telephone number, and a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal court for your address (or, if you are outside the United States, any judicial district in which Mushbit may be found), and that you will accept service of process from the person who sent the original notice.
We forward the counter-notice to the person who sent the original notice. Unless they tell us that they have started a court action, we may restore the material no sooner than 10 and no later than 14 business days after receiving the counter-notice.
5. Repeat infringers
We close, in appropriate circumstances, the accounts of users who repeatedly infringe copyright. As a rule, an account that receives three valid copyright notices within 12 months is closed.
6. Child sexual abuse material
We have zero tolerance for child sexual abuse material. When we become aware of it, we remove it, close the account, preserve the information the law requires, and report it to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and to other competent authorities as required. We do not notify the account holder in advance.
7. Other reports, and users in the European Union and Brazil
For other reports, we review the content against our Acceptable Use Policy and the applicable law and take the action described there. If you are in the European Union, you can submit your report under the Digital Services Act; we will acknowledge it, decide on it in a timely and objective manner, and tell you our decision. Users affected by our decisions can ask us to review them.
8. Misuse of this process
Knowingly false notices or counter-notices can lead to liability for damages. Do not send a notice unless you have a good-faith basis for it.
9. Requests from authorities
Law enforcement and other authorities can send requests to legal@mushbit.com. We respond to valid legal process under the applicable law.
